The pandemic has brought about significant changes in our cities and towns, accelerating long-term trends like online shopping, and presenting new equity and inclusion challenges.

We regularly discuss altered workspaces, office-to-residential conversions, new transportation patterns, and new uses for public spaces. Key concepts such as replacing closed businesses, outdoor dining, and evolving community hubs are familiar topics of this new era.

Resources and Tools

Even before the eventful year of 2020, observing the city became my passion, including how we perceive and interact with our urban environments and the complex interplay between people and urban space. I have developed various resources and tools in my books and articles, and five are central to envisioning the post-pandemic city and town and renewed interest in livability.
